Japan Photobook Evening, Pompey Darkroom & PAX
Join us and learn more about Japanese Photobooks with Portsmouth Analogue eXperiments and Pompey Darkroom.
The Japan Photobook Evening will bring together talks and photobook sharing, giving photography and photobook enthusiasts the chance to discover more about Japanese photography.
You’ll have the chance to take a look through and be inspired by a range of Japanese photobooks from the Arts University Bournemouth’s (AUB) collection. AUB specialist subject librarian Alan Turner will also provide an introduction to the collections held at the university, including details on how members of the public can access these.
This will be followed by an illustrated talk; ‘From Photobook to Installation: Japanese Photography in the 1960s and ’70s’ by art historian and critic Dr Jelena Stojkovic, author of ‘The Impossible Avant-Garde: Surrealism and Photography in 1930s Japan’.

Tickets for this event are pay what you can and range from £0 – £8. Tickets can be booked on Eventbrite by following the link here
Please note, the talk with AUB will take place between 4pm – 6pm and the talk with Dr Jelena Stojkovic will take place between 7pm – 8.30pm. Tickets are for both events, and you can drop-in and out.
