Generate Film
We are thrilled to present a new short film showing the impact of Generate, a free, inclusive art workshop for people with dementia and their carers, which we’ve been running at Aspex Portsmouth since 2015.
Providing a comfortable space to explore art, Generate takes place every Friday in our Learning Space. The sessions are led by artists Roy Eneas and Abi Wheeler, who support the participants to follow their own creative interests and find the techniques, materials and subject matter that inspires them.
Many of our participants join us with no arts background and those who do have some experience may not have painted or sketched for a long time. Over the years, we have seen how quickly people can develop their skills, gaining confidence and enjoyment through arts activities.
Alongside the creative sessions we also run an informal support group for carers.
If you know someone who might benefit from participation in creative activities for their wellbeing, or you’d like to know more about how you can support the continuation of Generate with a donation, please contact Ellen Gillett, Creative Engagement Co-ordinator, at ellen@aspex.org.uk or on 02392 778080.
A big thank you to Paul Gonella, Strong Island Media for the beautiful film.
