looking backwards, moving forwards

As part of our September residency, artists from the PAX initiative are hosting ‘looking backwards, moving forwards’, a round table discussion on analogue media.

You’re invited to join us for an open discussion on the enduring appeal of analogue media & technologies, including the use of archival materials (slides, photographs, films, etc.) and analogue filmmaking in the making of new work. In this way ‘Innovation becomes multidirectional and (re)invention often involves looking backwards in order to move forwards’ (Knowles, 2020, p.6).

‘Photochemical film finds itself in a position of relative freedom, no longer useful in one sense, but endlessly valuable in another. Innovation becomes multidirectional and (re)invention often involves looking backwards in order to move forwards’ (Knowles, 2020, p.6).
