We are delighted to announce we have been awarded support from Arts Council England as part of its Catalyst: Evolve funding programme.
Catalyst: Evolve will support the gallery to develop and enhance its fundraising capabilities over the next three-years. The gallery aims to diversify its income sources and improve its long-term sustainability.
In addition to training for our team of staff, trustees and volunteers, the programme will allow the gallery to match fund the support it receives from individuals through donations, support from businesses, trusts and foundations.
These funds will enable the gallery to continue to show contemporary art exhibitions, support emerging artists, offer opportunities for people of all ages to explore their creativity and work with its local community in Portsmouth.
Joanne Bushnell, Director of Aspex said: “Catalyst: Evolve will provide a tremendous boost to our fundraising efforts. It’s not easy asking people for money, and many people do not realise that Aspex is an educational charity. For the next three years, for every £1 donated, the gallery will be able to claim a further £1 from Arts Council England, up to a total of £100,000 – what a fabulous target to aim for!”
Established in 1981, we are now celebrating our 35th anniversary, as well as our 10th year at the Vulcan Building in Gunwharf Quays. Earlier this year, we received £158,504 from Arts Council England’s National Lottery-funded small capital programme, financing further development to its stunning historic building.
Arts Council England’s investment in Aspex through the Catalyst: Evolve programme will enable the gallery to build upon this recent development and engage more people.
