Welcoming our next Artist-In-Residence
As we enter an exciting new season of exhibitions and events, we’re pleased to welcome a new artist to the Artist Studio.
In residency from 3 – 28 July, Boris Allenou is a musician and creative technologist who mainly explores the limitless forms of Sound Art and Sound Ecology by investigating the social role of sonic Eco-systems surrounding us. His research uses interactive sound installations, talks, workshops, music, radio creations and sound exploration events as mediums to reflect on, propose and conceptualise possible roles, places, meanings, interactions and aesthetics of sounds in our societies.
On the residency, Boris said: “I am thrilled to embark on this residency journey at Aspex Portsmouth, where I will immerse myself in exploring how sound art can instigate social cognition and behaviour. This opportunity provides me with the space and resources to delve deeper into my creative practice, engaging with new technology and materials in my series of workshops: Dynamis. Through collaboration, dialogue and experimentation, the workshops will culminate in an Artist Studio installation that will coincide with CLASSifications, soundboarding ideas emerging in the main gallery around how objects can tell us more about how society operates and is structured”
As part of this short residency, Boris will be hosting a series of workshops inviting participants to learn more about and build electronic sound sculptures. Find out more here
