The Inventors | Inventions Revealed
This Summer, alongside our partners The Makers Guild, we commissioned three artists to act as inventors as part of our annual project.
These ‘inventors’ worked with the people of Portsmouth to explore new ways of making through a series of workshops, exhibitions and artist residencies. These events took place across the city, culminating at Victorious Festival in August 2018.
The artists, Jon Lockhart, Fern Toynton and Ming Wu, used their experience in Portsmouth to develop new artworks. These works have now returned to the Gallery, displayed alongside an ‘in progress’ wall explaining each artist’s creative process.
Each artwork is participatory, so come along to the Gallery to take part. Why not take a browse of our learning programme - there’s something for everyone!
The Inventors was inspired by our Summer exhibition Push & Pull from the artist Will Cruickshank, who creates work through the use of hand-made machines and jigs. The exhibition is on show until 16 September 2018.
