16 Apr

Make your art come alive! Join artist Russell Squires for a day-long animation workshop for children aged 8-12.

Following our season theme Transformation, young people are invited to take part in a stop frame animation workshop with local educator and artist, Russell Squires.

Experimenting with drawing, sculpture and photography, we will be learning how to transform a series of images into an animation, and make our art morph from one thing to another!

This workshop will take inspiration from Sarah Taylor Silverwood’s hand drawn animation Daphne, a 3 minute video made from 2000 ink drawings depicting the mythological Daphne transforming into a tree. With digital elements plus drawing and sculpture there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

No prior experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and willingness to get stuck in. We believe in delivering inspiring, quality activities for young people to aid their creative development in an inclusive and supportive environment.

The session will run from 10.00 - 15.00hrs with a break for lunch.

Lunch can be brought from home, or ordered from our cafe partners Port Coffee.

Please note, we are unable to accomodate children under the age of 8 for these workshops.
