Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Commitment
At Aspex Portsmouth, we are dedicated to promoting Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) throughout our programming, recruitment, and audience engagement.
We value input from diverse communities and stakeholders, using their feedback to guide our work. By staying informed through research and professional development, we aim to adapt to the evolving JEDI landscape.
We recognise the need for ongoing improvement in recruitment, representation, and engagement and are committed to fostering an inclusive, equitable environment where everyone feels they belong and can experience the transformative power of art.
Understanding that this work requires sustained learning, sharing, and reflection, we embrace our responsibility to drive meaningful change within our organisation, sector, and society.
This statement, published on our website, represents our ongoing commitment to JEDI. It will be updated annually to share progress and ensure transparency.
We commit to:
- Maintaining a zero-tolerance policy for racism, discrimination, or bias.
- Conducting annual JEDI action plan reviews to track progress, address challenges, and update strategies.
- Using inclusive imagery in visual communications to enhance visibility of underrepresented communities.
- Distributing an accessibility rider for all stakeholders to foster transparency and adequate support.
- Regularly reviewing and updating language to reflect evolving terminology, informed by diverse voices.
- Improving physical accessibility, including wayfinding, to enhance visitor experience.
- Expanding partnerships with organisations to co-create inclusive programmes and activities.
